A River and Longing

A River and Longing is my first attempt at creating a graphic novel. It is self-published and will be released in the Fall of 2018.  I will be updating this page as a portal to order a hard copy once printing is complete.

Comics and graphic novels have influenced my creative arc for the better part of four decades, yet I had never attempted to create one myself. I started this project in the summer of 2017, and it took me a full year to complete.

What emerged is a composite story of two individuals experience with adoption, ambiguous loss, and how fragmented pasts and presents intertwine to build meaning towards healing and reconciling a life of longing together.

My creative practice includes drawing, painting, graphic storytelling, network technology, public participation, and community land stewardship. I believe that art and creativity can serve as a critical catalyst for social and political change by engaging people in deliberative dialogue, illuminating concealed stories, building cross-sector platforms, and advancing agency and equity.
